Johns 1st Birthday Party.

On Saturday the 19th of January we welcomed family & friends into our home in celebration of Johns 1st birthday.

Iain has joked for the past year that I’ve been planning Johns birthday party from the moment he was born - which in actual fact isn’t a complete lie. I had originally planned on a Very Hungry Caterpillar Party but seeing how much love John has for the kids program, In The Night Garden, I was left with no choice; Iggle Piggle, Upsy Daisy & Makka Pakka it was!

I spent numerous hours putting together invites to print, banners to hang and filling lots of balloons with helium stolen from my work. I was determined to do things well but we were working on an extremely tight budget. Thankfully it all came together at the last minute.

Johns Granny did a fantastic job with the cake and it was greatly admired by all our guests. And the cake excitement was heightened when cut and the surprise rainbow was revealed inside.

John had a great day playing with all his baby friends and harassing his Aunty, Uncle and Grandparents for constant cuddles. He also did very well for himself on the gifts front - we have such generous friends & family and the wee sausage was spoilt with lots of books, clothes and noisy toys. Although by the time it came to opening presents, John was well overdue a nap and became very fussy, and frustrated that he couldn’t eat his birthday cards.

Overall it was a lovely day spend with our loved ones. I can’t think of a better way to celebrate the first year of our little boy that made us a family.
